Someone I knew once said to me, “I love you”.

I smiled and responded politely, “Thanks. I’m flattered”.

I was telling the truth. My ego was indeed flattered to hear those words. Yet because of the actual dynamics between me and that person, I was unmoved, and even felt cynical. Deep down a part of me wanted to say, “If you love me, how come you’re so profoundly disinterested in knowing who I really am? How come you seem so eager to project your wishes onto me and mode me into what you want me to be?”

True love is seeing and acknowledging someone for everything that they are. It’s the kind of love that has the power to heal, to transform, to liberate.

Now, when you say to yourself, “I love you”, do you believe your own words?

You can recite the mantra of self love all day long, buy yourself flowers and nice massages. But if you do not allow yourself to see and acknowledge all aspects of humanity that are in you, the credibility and power of your love remain limited.

In Episode 81 of the School of Intuition, I talk about what it means to truly see yourself, the transformational gift that comes with it, and what you can do to give you more of that gift. I also talk about why mastering the skill of “seeing” is such an important developmental step for every empathic light being, to create positive changes in yourself and in the world around you. We’ll do an exercise together that helps you deepen this superpower that is already your birthright.
